INCLUDED ART
AUTHOR'S NOTE
"Who's art is featured in Charred Remains?"
I was having a chat with my buddy and fellow author Wofford Lee Jones and we were talking about short stories and making a collection of works. We challenged each other to publish a collection of our work and put it out for people to read. And with that Charred Remains was born.
The title of Charred Remains came about because I have a big love of hiking and camping and wanted to integrate that somehow into the book. Naturally, campfires came to mind. So I decided to name the book Charred Remains after the left over log bits at the end of fire. But it also works on a second level of burnt corpses. So I had my title and many stories I'd written over the years, but wanted to do something a little bit more.
I structured the collection into three parts. The Ashes- flash fiction, The Embers- micro stories, and The Flames- short stories. Since The Embers would only be 4-6 sentence micro stories, I wanted to pair many of them up with some great art. Only problem is, I'm not an artist. Lucky for me, my buddy Wofford is! He offered, as well as his good friend Brian Lee. Between the two of them, there was some amazing art to pair with my dark and disturbing micro stories. I couldn't be happier with the outcome!
One final piece of trivia for you, the book Charred Remains was published May 16, 2022. Just so happens to have been my 32nd birthday. What a coincidence, right?
