DEATH CAN WAIT
SUMMARY
"Renee is a total beast! I found it impossible not to root for the characters and found myself holding my breath several times.” - Amazon Review
Renee Walker never imagined she would be spending her twenty-ninth birthday on the beaches of Brazil. It was the vacation of her dreams. Her husband, Luke, had outdone himself. As the trip comes to an end, their friends Keith and Hailey invite them to return to Florida on their luxury yacht. This trip couldn’t get any better. When a storm rips apart the yacht that casts Luke and Renee overboard, they wash ashore an island. They work together to survive, scavenge, and build shelter. But they’re not alone on the island. The men who control this island will stop at nothing to protect their community from outsiders. Now, Luke and Renee must avoid the inhabitants and find a way to escape the island. For the first time in their lives, they are forced to survive.

ISLA DE LOBOS
AUTHOR'S NOTE
"Who came up with the map?"
It was during a kayaking trip with my wife in the Gulf of Mexico that I started thinking on the plot for what would become Death Can Wait. Back then, the working title was At Any Cost but I was never really excited about that title. It wasn't until partway through writing the book that Renee Walker thought the line death can wait that the title stuck.
Isla de Lobos is a fictional island off the coast of Brazil. It's Spanish for Island of the Wolves due to the violent nature of the men who live there. Fun fact, the island name is also an easter egg for my first novel To the Wolves.
I wanted a map for the island so the reader would have a better understanding of Luke and Renee's adventure on the island. So, I drew one. I sent the map to my cover artist who did a great job cleaning it up and making it look better in photoshop, while keeping the hand drawn look. Seeing that map in the published book made me so happy!
Death Can Wait was my second published novel and I've learned so much since publishing it back in 2016. That, I think, is one of the best parts about being an author. You get to look back and physically see your growth as a writer. Also, fun fact number two, that's my bloody hand on the front cover.
